PINK BEACH LOMBOK A HIDDEN GEM WITH BLUSH-COLORED SAND
Lombok, Indonesia, is home to many natural wonders but one of its most unique and enchanting spots is Tangsi Beach, more famously known as Pink Beach Lombok. This spectacular shoreline offers more than just clear turquoise waters and scenic coastal views it boasts soft pink-hued sand, a rare phenomenon that only a handful of beaches around the world can claim.
Still relatively untouched by mass tourism, Pink Beach is a must-visit destination for anyone seeking serenity, natural beauty, and an unforgettable photo opportunity.

Where Is Pink Beach & How Do You Get There?
Pink Beach is located on the southeastern coast of Lombok Island, in Jerowaru District, East Lombok Regency, approximately 85 km from the capital city of Mataram.
You can reach this exotic beach via two routes:
By Land from Mataram
- Travel time: ± 2 hours by car or motorbike
- Distance: ± 85 km
- Route tip: The last 5 km before reaching Pink Beach can be bumpy and full of potholes, especially during the rainy season. We recommend using a 4WD vehicle or hiring a local driver familiar with the terrain.
- Entrance ticket: Affordable, usually less than IDR 20,000 per person.
By Sea via Tanjung Luar Harbor
- Travel time to port: ± 1.5 hours from Mataram (66 km)
- Boat crossing: ± 30 – 40 minutes by local boat
- This option is quicker and more scenic, passing several small islets and coral reefs along the way.
Why Is It Called Pink Beach?
The sand at Pink Beach gets its pinkish hue from a natural phenomenon. It occurs when red coral fragments and microscopic marine organisms (such as Foraminifera) mix with the beachs white sand, creating a soft blush tone that is especially vivid during the dry season (May-October) when the sun hits the sand at the right angle.
There are only seven known pink beaches in the world, and Lomboks Pink Beach is one of the most pristine and photogenic among them.
Best Time to Visit:
- May to October (Dry Season)
- Sunset hours (4-6 PM) are ideal for photography as the pink color becomes more vibrant.
